How to Play Robots: Energy Conflict and Win

In the game of Robots, players build robots from component parts and then battle with them to achieve energy dominance on the board. The game is for two or more players, and each player needs their own set of game pieces to play. The game can be played as a stand-alone game, or it can be combined with the Zombies! game to create a two-player battle experience.

To set up the game, each player chooses a color and takes all the pieces of that color. The player also takes six action cards of that color. The remaining cards are placed face down in the middle of the playing area to create the draw deck. Each player then places their home planet in any space on their side of the board.

The players then take turns placing their robots on their home planet, or on any other planet they control. There must always be at least one robot on a player's home planet. The number of robots on a planet is limited by the size of the planet, as shown on the board.

The object of the game is to gain energy dominance by controlling planets with more robots than your opponent. Players can gain energy dominance in one of three ways:

1) Control a planet with seven or more robots – this awards four points towards winning the game.

2) Control a planet with eleven or more robots – this awards six points towards winning the game.

3) Destroy all opponent's robots on a planet – this awards four points towards winning the game.

The first player to reach 16 points (or more) wins the game!

Turn Sequence:

1) Draw one card from the Draw Deck and resolve its effect. 2) Play one Action Card if you wish . 3) Perform one action with each of your Robots . 4) Resolve any end-of-turn effects . 5)Draw one card for each Robot you have killed this turn . 6) End your turn .

Card Types:

There are three types of cards in Robots: Action Cards ,Robot Parts Cards , and Planet Cards .

Action Cards are dealt out at the beginning of each turn, and allow players to perform various actions such as moving Robots , attacking opponents' Robots , or gaining Energy . There are six different Action Card colors, and each color corresponds to a particular type of action . For example, blue Action Cards allow players to move Robots , while orange Action Cards allow players to attack opponents' Robots . Players may only play one Action Card per turn . When an Action Card is played, it is placed in front of the player until it is used, at which point it is discarded . If a player cannot play an Action Card due to having no available Robots , they must draw two new cards from the Draw Deck and keep one . If both cards drawn are Action Cards , then both must be played; if either card drawn is not an Action Card , then that card must be discarded without being played .

Robot Parts Cards are used to build Robots . A Robot is composed of three different parts : a body part , an arm part , and a leg part . These parts are represented by different colored circles on each card : green circles represent body parts, blue circles represent arm parts, and red circles represent leg parts . A player must have at least one Robot Part Card of each color in order to build a Robot ; for example, if a player has two green Robot Part Cards and no other colors, they cannot build any Robots during that turn . When building Robots during their turn, players must place all Robot Parts in front of them so that all opponents can see what they have constructed ; however, players are not required to show which color Robot Parts they are using until they activate that Robot in battle . If a player does not have enough Robot Parts available to build a complete Robot , they may use any combination of colors that they have available . When building Robots , players may not use multiple copies of same card ; for example, if they have three green Robot Part Cards total , they cannot use all three cards to build one robot body part ). If a player runs out of Robot Parts during their turn , they must immediately end their turn (they cannot play any more Action Cards ).
